Human and AI.On the same deck.
AI shouldn't replace people. It should change how work is divided. I write about introducing it into organisations in a managed way, and I advise boards that want to lead this change strategically rather than by accident.
The human is irreplaceable in
- judgement
- empathy
- context
- responsibility
These areas still belong to people. Decisions that concern other people, money and accountability require an understanding of the situation, not only data about it.
The machine is unbeatable at
- repetition
- scale
- patience
- consistency
It does the same work at any volume, with the same quality and without fatigue. Wherever a task can be described precisely, its advantage is beyond dispute.
Three principles behind my work
Governance isn't a brake. It's the condition for speed.
Scaling AI requires clear answers on ownership, accountability, data flows and decision rights. Without them, an organisation stays at the experimental stage, because every next step reopens the same questions.
Adoption begins with a strategic decision.
A deployment meant to reach the whole organisation needs intent at board level: objectives, risk boundaries, accountability and investment in people's skills. Tools come second to that decision.
Keeping AI running is a service management discipline.
An AI-based solution is a service: it has an owner, a support level, a path for change and a lifecycle. That discipline comes from IT service management and decides whether a deployment still works in year two.
- 240automation deployments
